ISOLATIONRUN.ORG
My Role On The Team
Isolation Run was an initiative created during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to raise funds for local hospitals and healthcare workers. I was able to support the organization’s goals through my role as Social Media Coordinator and Content Creator. I was able to explore my storytelling abilities, and raise awareness around a brand that wasn’t my own. I helped shift the aesthetics (of IG, all their social media?) to a recognizable style, and provided consistency in the content posted. This elevated the perceived professionalism of the movement’s social media, therefore facilitating the recruitment of additional participants and charities.
Diversity & Inclusion In Social Media Posts
In trying to keep the content as diverse and inclusive as possible, I ensured the stories I featured for #MondayMotivation posts included athletes and inspiration from all walks of life. From recognizing National Aboriginal History Month (through Tommy Longboat), featuring Nike’s BeTrue campaign (which focused on the LGBTQIA+ community), to celebrating Black athletes’ (like Guor Maker and Eliud Kipchoge) contributions to the running world, various people and communities were highlighted.
This post is an example of one story I used for #MotivationMonday as a means to recognize National Indigenous People’s History Month:
“In continuing recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day, we present for #MotivationMonday the story of one of Canada’s most famed athletes and “Canada’s Greatest long-distance runner", Tommy Longboat.
From the Onodaga Six Nations Reserve near Brantford Ontario, Longboat went on to be the first Indigenous/Canadian athlete to win the Boston Marathon in 1907 by setting a course record of 2:24:24 at 19 years old, and then served in the First World War in 1916, being injured twice as a messenger runner in the trenches.
Sometimes running in isolation means more than physically running solo. Confronting racism and prejudice daily despite his contributions to his country and to the sport of running, Longboat went on to prove himself as the first world-class non-white marathon runner to be of historical importance that reaches beyond Canada.
Overcoming many adversities and not being easily reduced to a stereotype during his time helped pave the way to a "dimension of inclusiveness that would enrich the sport, making running a social leader benefiting Ethopian and Kenyan athletes when their turn came to win marathons in Longboat’s footsteps”.

Transforming The Instagram Feed:
Content Creation: Video
Exercise Tips With Dana Fradkin:
As part of a weekly series, I worked with actor Dana Fradkin to film exercise tips to help keep participants of Isolation Run motivated and active throughout their fitness fundraising journey. Combining filming, motion graphics, and formatting for social media optimization, this project was challenging, but also rewarding when the different components would come together each week.
Sensationalizing The Stories Section
In addition to creating quality content for the main feed, I made it a point to ensure the content in the stories was just as engaging, and also relevant to trending topics.
Arc’teryx X Isolation Collaboration: Steps Challenge/Giveaway
After acquiring Arc-teryx as a brand sponsor, we utilized the opportunity to get more participants and increase fundraising by organizing a giveaway. I put together this video and coordinated the premise of the contest where the participant who raised the most money, and the participant who accumulated the most steps in the month of July would win a prize.
